Interesting, indeed. Do you think they'll do where the movies left off, some EU, or a completely new storyline?

As enthusiastic as I am, my cynicism is louder, mostly due to the scope of Star Wars. Think about it. So far all the movies and books (which are virtually our sole sources of info) involve galaxy-wide crisis of some sort, such as a superweapon, a baddass chiss grand admiral, or a Jedi on a mission. It is not possible to have a galaxy crisis every saturday. Its just not plausable. As for reducing the magnitude of the series, well doesn't that take away from SW? We're used to being able to hop around the galaxy, blowing up planets, ravaging fleets. Do we really want to see the mundane/ between movie lives of our heroes? Owen Lars: Farmer in action. C-3P0: securing trade agreements on Selus II. Luke Skywalker, and his passion for baseball cards. And so forth. I just can't see it.

No what they'll do is and old British cinema technique called a tv film. WHere they'll make the film but have it in episodes. There will still be a galaxy wide conflict, just not as you know it. It will be an end of series finalie. So we have 3 films to be turned into a huge tv series. I say thats a pretty plausable task. Especially with all the credits Lucas has. And the money he'll make of it too. Heh.

Each film at most would be 3 hours, multiplied by 3 is 9, so 9 1 hour episodes or 18 half hour episodes. We know they would be 1 hour episodes, and 9 of them is two months' worth, which doesn't really make sense to bother with.

24 runs for 1/2 a year. It works well too...

9 episodes is about the right length....but you could make it longer, I mean Enterprise has only about 10...

I am also skeptical. Part of the reason Star Trek has survived so many incarnations is that was a TV series first, and movie later. I don't have numbers, but AFAIK shows aren't as often successful when they start as a movie and go to a TV show... and moreover, making SW a weekly event will somewhat water down the material. Same way the expanded universe has.

i think they won't use the Episodes of the Movies for the TV-Series.
maybe they use, as it is in actual games, a different time for the series so that they have more freedom for stories.

I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear "New Jedi Order". If there is a single source of filth and pestilence in SW, that's it. That series KILLED SW. I don't have anything against EU, and I love TImothy Zahn. Make him do the series, and I'll sing and dance.

More accurately, it killed Chewbacca and Anakin Solo...

And I found some parts of the series to be actually quite good, even if parts of it are Rebel drivel. I think the fact that it is (i) very long and (ii) written by an entire legion of authors means that there is bound to be a variation in quality, and not the overall cohesion that a series like (for example) Michael Stackpole's X-Wing series manages to give.

And some parts of it are positively pro-Imperial... the revelation that (in Traitor by Matthew Stover) there *is* no "dark side" and "light side" of the Force puts the Rebel propaganda about Vader and the Emperor to rest, really, doesn't it!

That book (and the ones specifically with Vergere *sp?* around it) I liked, just because it so much philisophical stuff about the Force. The "no dark/light side" actually makes sense, too.

Allthough I have to agree with most that has been said by the people who are against this series, one can still hope.
Hope for something like the X-Wing series (still the only good series and besides the Zahn books the only SW books worth reading.

) made into a TV series.
With Stackpole, Zahn and Allston as writers.
With GOOD actors.

With people who KNOW their way around Star Wars in the costume and "background" department.
With good animations (not something like the first seasons of STTNG *shudders*)
