The OS Map

Just a quick tactical thought, but looking at the OS Map ( viewtopic.php?t=585 ), it seems that a quick rebel strike from Adumar and Dantooine on Muunilinst would strand our front line forces from reliable supply lines, and i wouldnt like to be transporting Imperial supplies through Hutt space......hmmm me thinks i can forsee some interesting future missions!!!

Anyone got any thoughts??

I vote to cutoff that Reb arm, and completely surround the Hutts :P

Considering the topic, I saw fit to move it to "Campaign Discussion" :)

Your point is well-noted, Mr. Drazhar, and the Empire does intend to address this... For now, however, we're recalling the Nemesis and the Warhammer to Yaga Minor for the re-launching of a certain Imperial Star Destroyer that you might remember the name of. :P

But surrounding the Hutts wouldn't necessarily be a good idea, because angering the Hutts would be a very bad thing for the Imperial supply lines as well...

Does no one understand that because of hyperspace, actual territory controlled means nothing in relation to logistics? :P

You can just HS on through. :P

Unless you litter the border with Gravity mines :P

And Interdictors! I wish we had one of those. :P

We do; it's called Red Claw II, yes?

And Jag, it doesn't take much to dodge a bunch of gravity mines. My point still stands. :P

Let's build a Death Star and blow the Hutts up! :P

We _did_ at one point. You may notice its absence from the Naval roster...

Care to tell me where it went? I don't recall it being destroyed.

What are you doing to the Navy Fel!

We need the Red Claw II..:-)

Good point. We need that Interdictor back. It is unseemly for the Empire not to have one, even in this day and age.

Interdictors are *very* rare (as you might recall, even Ysanne Isard had to *borrow* one from one of the very powerful Imperial warlords. Allthough I do not remember if it was Teradoc or the other one - Harrsk?).

I never understood why we had one on our list and I am glad it's gone. Things like this should be the center and reward of a big campaign.

La Forge: Dude, what the hell, HS is not the safe, secure travel method you believe it to be. remember, travel in HS is not in a straight line, indeed cessestial phenomenae are regularly used by pirates and the like to ambush convoys and fleets.

If i were the rebels, id place an Interdictor like ship on the line between Muunilinst and Yaga Minor (assuming free passage through Hutt Space) in the sector immediatly south west of Muunilinst. Its relatively free space, but near enough to Rebel space for reinforcements, and far enough from any major imperial base for rapid reaction...

Place a nice fleet with it (Two MC-80s, two Frigates). All you base belong to us.....

Yes, while it would be really nice to have one, as Vortagh points out, they were extremely rare. In general they did *not* serve with Sector groups - only with Task Forces, Special Operations, and the like. It is tremendously unlikely that a force of the GE's size (3 Sector groups, mind you!) would have an INT.

Now! The next question is how do you get one?

Well - you can build one. But that's difficult. You need an ISD-class shipyard to handle the thing. You need the usual assortment of stuff for the inside. You need the gravity well generators. These are very difficult to make. It's a really arcane art and you'd need a pile of specialists, a lot of materials, and quite a bit of time. And then you need to install all of that stuff in the INT and you've got to test it. And only then you've got an INT. Did I mention you've got to pay for all of this, too?

Or you can take an already existing one! But that may be even more difficult, because first you have to find one. And then you have to capture it. But no self-respecting faction would allow its Interdictor to be captured without a hellacious fight and every other ship in range dead. Even worse, you would have to stop them from blowing the ship up themselves to prevent its capture. Supposing you did that, you'd need to repair the INT because recovering from being disabled is not just a matter of pushing the 'restart' button on the bridge. And the ship probably got somewhat roughed up in the battle you just took it through. So you need to repair it. See "Build an Interdictor".

Or you could buy one? No way. Nobody would part with one for money. Maybe if you offered them a Sector Group or two. But they'd probably use it to take back the INT and embarass you.

So in conclusion, I find it tremendously unlikely that you would be able to get an INT very easily if you didn't already have one. :P
