COMPETITIONS
New Competition. RED ALERT 2.
This is a very simple competition. All the members of the squadron should complete the mission that is attached to their e-mail, IMPERIAL NAVY SIMULATION #42 (GES 42 XvT). The mission should be send to me, and the delivery term is up to the 31 of July the 2004. The one that achieves the biggest score will win a medal. Participate all, and have fun.
TO INSTALL:
Go to your main XvT folder (usually C:\Program Files\LucasArts\XwingTie), and then to the 'Train' folder (inside the main XvT folder).
Back up the file IMPERIAL.LST! ... It is the only file that will get replaced during installation.
Unzip/extract the contents of the Simulation ZIP file into your main X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter folder, with the 'Use Folder Names' option (or equivalent) on.
Run X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and create a new pilot file with a descriptive name (such as "YourPilotName42" for Simulation #42).
Fly & complete all missions ( 01 mission in this battle ) associated with the simulation in sequence, then send in your pilot file to obtain official credit! (in this case, to me, your Lieutenent)
TO UN-INSTALL:
Restore overwritten LST files with the backup copies you made in Step #2, and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter will return to its previous state.
*** Recruitment Drive underway! For more details see http://66.78.26.38/~imperial/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=448
With the new recruiting office at http://genet.dyndns.org/join.php , I'm happy to annouce that the Empire is into a recruitment drive for the duration of April and May. All officers who recruit should ensure that they get their new recruits to add your details to the form to ensure correct credit. The usual procedures apply: all cadets who graduate from the Academy shall count towards the recruiter's [MoX] tally, and also we have the following awards as a bonus:
2 new officers = [MoM]
5 new officers = [BS]
10+ new officers = [SS]
F.P.R'S ACTIVITIES
None until the moment. The FPR should be in maintenance.
M.B'S QUOTES
I despise babysitting, especially ever since I got locked in my own closet by some little four year old who I didn't even know when attempting to play a game of "hide and go seek". Not to mention he completely trashed my room when I was trapped in there, and almost drove me to breaking down my own closet door. I always try to remind myself that I was that age once... but then I remember that I was at least halfway sane and generally didn't annoy people of an older age beyond belief by doing destructive things.

Russel mentioned the activity on IRC and it's apparent lack of ... activity
Partially that is true, but as opposed to the messageboards, we have times where nothing goes on there (because half the people there is at work or doing something) and days where we talk more lines there, than this entire MB has on it's pages.
It's all a matter of being there at the right time, however there isn't any set time for talk. It just starts and more and more people get involved.
Allthough I can already tell you that I am talking about #officerslounge here, not about #galactic_empire. During the "long dark night" most people got accustomend with that channel and talk there instead of any where else.
You mention how people don't really care to read the MBs and stuff, well I have to say the following three words: Kick them out.
I know, I know! People won't like that. People will say "but look at our numbers! They are allready small enough! Well, so what?
We are currently at a point where we need peoples activity. When people do NOT care enough about the club as to post online, talk with their members, play the games - then what the F*** are they doing here?
WHY did they join? WHY are they still here?
WTF?! This is annocing the hell out of me because it is SO frikkin STUPID! You join an online roleplaying and gaming club, but you never DO anything? Why did you join in the first place?
So I repeat myself : Kick. Them. Out.
I don't think anything else will help this club, because you guys tried everything and you can't force people to change. So what do you do? Right, you change the people in the positions.
If people cannot be bothered to do work for a club, or even be active, we should not be bothered to keep them. Easy!
This unholy, goddamn "All an EN has to do is to stay in contact every month" rule is the BIGGEST POS the GE has EVER had! Get rid of it! FORCE them to stay active! And if they don't, kick them out!
I can here some people saying "But then our numbers will be really small!" - so WHAT? Then they ARE small, but at least everybody will be active and people will see and say "Hey, look at that small but merry and cool band of Imperials! I want to join them all and reach their coolnes!
What good does it do the GE when we have ~100something people on the rosters, when 75% of them are of the "I am just here and report to the AWOL checks" type? What good does it do if we have people on the ranks who like their squadmates, but can't be bothered to get that old game running or who can't be bothered to enter a competition?
AARGH!
Regarding you simulations comment, we have hit the same problem again, that have hit several times before. Why do we *need* a "special place to be posted on" ? Why can't somebody just make a goddamn mission, post a link and description on the MBs and done! Hell, if you want me to host that thing for you, send me an email!
Why do we HAVE to have a "fancy something" to store missions? This was the failure of GA D. and his "We need admin and a working super duper webpage before the GE can kick it" - well guess what, when the GE was REALLY active, we didn't even have anything else but a plain old crappy HTML website that really SUCKED!
Oh and regarding mission creation - ask Syrtaras for his XvT mission creation course. It's quite fun and good.

PROMOTIONS / MEDALS
None this week.
Recommendations.
With the new system of ranges, all the Ensigns has the opportunity of being promoted to Ensigns First Class (EF), and the Sub Lieutenants to Second Lieutenants (2LT).
How to achieve a promotion?
Well. The main thing is to be active. Should be shown participation in the message boards, to participate in the competitions of the squadron and of the GE, to show interest in the TDA's (if one has time), to propose and to carry out activities that benefit to the GE and the squadron, and mainly, to maintain a regular communication with your Lieutenant. This last it is the most important thing. Your squadron leader, *should*, as much as possible, to have news of your activities in the GE. For this reason it is advisable to send copy of their activities, and as much as possible, if you is communicating with some superior, to send copy of these e-mails to their Lieutenant. Only this way be able to evaluate and to know if they are qualified to receive a recognition, which can be a promotion, or a medal (for example, MoM). Don't worry if they consider some of these activities like confidential. Their squadron leader is very discreet.
Orders:
Are attentive to the orders of their superior. Visit the MB and send me suggestions for future activities within squadron. And, if it is possible, RECRUIT!!
Be active, it's more fun
