Regarding Spamusers

Please note that I get a mail whenever a new user, spam user or not, signs up. As such, you do not need to tell me that a new spam user has signed up. Because we enabled activation, any new user must wait for manual approval before they can do anything, post, etc.

So please do not keep messaging me "Fel, a spam user is on the MBs!!!!". I know, and I'll kill them all eventually - but they can't do anything bad, so the MBs remain safe.

If I recall correctly, there's a feature phpBB has for administrators. Under User Admin, there should be an option 'Ban Control'.

I haven't tried it, but I suspect banning *poker* should take care of the problem

The problem would be that you can only ban IP addresses and specific email addresses if I remember correctly. I am sure that most of this junk comes from different sources. I have a message board for a clan in a game I play and the last couple of months I have been getting these same stupid poker things. I never used to get them.

Yes, but you can only ban full usernames, so banning "poker" will only ban people who use "poker" as their name. Not "poker online", etc.

You can, but they come up with nots of new stuff to get around that. We are working on it..

I already did that. You can see what an effect it's had. I'll be doing a cleanup tonight of spamusers.
