Empire at War mods

Most people knew that modding projects for Empire at War began a few days after the demo was released, well in advance of the actual game being released. A particularly promising project is Legacy of War, which promises a great deal of new units for EaW, including the Executor-class Star Destroyer.

From the About page of their site;
Star Wars: Legacy of War is an expansion mod that will add the New Republic, Imperial Remnant, Chiss, Yuuzhan Vong, and Galactic Alliance. In Single Player mode, the player will be able to traverse the entire Star Wars saga from Episode 5 onwards and fight some of the greatest battles of all time. The campaign will be enhanced and added onto also. As the game goes on, new faces will appear and new technology will be unlocked.
Quite exciting. Just head to the Gallery page to see all the renders they've done so far. It all looks very promising.

This mod is one of the best ones ive seen yet. It will have the DSII, Sovereign-class Star Dreadnoughts, the Eclipse I & II, Galaxy Gun, the Reborn Emperor(All these Campaign only), and you will be able to use these if you choose the Empire campaign. I am one of their Beta-Testers(The only one for now), and some of their renders are amazing!. Especially the Executor

I'll have to check out that Mod... I use the ones at empireatwar.filefront.com... mainly the ship scaling ones... is this one to scale too?

Thats a spectacularly rendered picture of the Executor. It reminds me of a warning... a warning for all those who would do wrong.

Hmm... I want to get EaW. I'm borrowing KotOR from a friend, though. It's pretty amazing.

So apparantly Legacy of War isn't out yet.... Anyone know when we can expect it? (The website still has the game as un-realeased lol)

It wont be for quite a while, the Map Editor and Model Importer havnt even been released yet.

What are the ETAs on those? Once the Map Editor comes out, I suspect we can begin creating EaW custom sims... :)

I can not figure out how one can play with a Super Star Destory unless they down size all other ships because it would be way to massive.

There are four different lengths I know of. 8km, 12.8km, 17.5km and 19km.

8km is only(!) five times longer than the ISD... yeah, that could be a problem. :P

I hope those large-scale modding projects turn out well. All the small mods out right now are complete and utter rubbish, obviously made by people who can't handle the SP campaigns and need to introduce superships on their side to win.

Sure, the Rebels have an advantage, but only if there's a human on the other end. I can easily go up against an AI in Galactic mode and not lose ONE ship. Fighters don't count, of course. :P

Legacy of War has released their SSD as a standalone mod.

Haven't tried it out yet. The screenshoots look fablous, though.

Two hangar bays hardpoints, six engine hardpoints, thirty-two weapon hardpoints and three unidentifable hardpoints which presumably are the tractor beam and shield generators.

I haven't built one yet, but I'm heading off to do so now. :P
