GE Domination 3

Well, seeing how nobody (with the exception of Munro, Pavz, Muscat and Semptre, who at least sent in *some* stuff) is interested in DominationÂ³, the whole thing will be cancelled in exactly one week.

Unless I start recieving some stuff by then.

Vort: the fact that you started it right after OS finished probably doesn't help. I know I need a break from flying and mission creation, and I've got finals I've got to worry about right now, too.

I *have* done things, however Lieutenant Dayton was ill-disposed at the time and thus they probably weren't reported.

Actually Semptre wasn't even in my company when I reported his achievements, so I actually did extra work

I hate to agree with Jag on this one, but I do. OS was highly time consuming and pretty draining, especially for those who scored +800 points; that's a lot of work. Motivation is like the tides: you need a little time before they come back in.

And yes, I have finals to worry about too, hence my absence thus far...

Yepp. Most of the people that got into the top ten almost killed themselves during the last days :p

I cannot talk for everyone but I myself strained my pilots quite a bit. It went so far that their fighters started to have every sort of "technical failures" ...so they say :p

Anyway, due to all this. I have decided to give them a two weeks free vacation. No orders, nothing and that ended today.

Vortagh: Please, you give more time so that more people take part in his competition. I am going to initiate BoB in one week or two, and some of his events also can incorporate to the GE DOM3. Also, newly I have started doing propaganda of his competence in my officials. As all, I am very interested in that the DOM3 has success. Only we must encourage better our soldiers.

I think I see the reasoning behind starting it immediately after OS - leaving a big gap would allow activity to slide down, and having GEDom3 now would allow that momentum to continue.

That's just speculation as to the reasoning, but the problem with it is that activity for OS was already flagging towards the end; and, as people have already stated, those who did keep up right to the end are fairly exhausted by it all.

I disagree with almost everything said in this thread.

1.) Activity in OS was NOT that great to begin with. Look at the top ten - with the exceptions of Mar, Jagged and La Forge, the others did very little. I am the best example. You could reach the score I had, by just flying the assigned mission every two weeks. How much work is that? One mission every two weeks? Nothing. How many people did that (or came anywhere near it)? ...
The only reason I held that score was that I had flown quite a bit more than what was needed in the first ~10 chapters. That's right, I kept 5th place when doing nothing for the last 20 chapters.

2.) OS was NOT "highly time consuming" - If it was, you yourself made it that way. OS was a competition that lasted over 30 chapters, that is more than 60 weeks (which is over one year) and nobody *had* to do everything in the last two weeks. Nobody needs to do everything in the first week, either. However when I look at my inbox after over two weeks and I see 5 GE DOMÂ³ emails and then look at the general OS participation, I tend to get a feeling that the GE is simply not *that* interested in competitions like that.
It's great to have people like the top three in OS, but I am not talking about that kind of participation. I am talking about ANY PARTICIPATION AT ALL!

3.) I understand that some people have finals right now - but many do not. And when it looks to me that only 5-10 people want to participate in GE DOMÂ³ (namely those who got in top ten in OS)....

4.) In regards to Steel, Branet and Bane (and a few others who talked to me in person), as well as the finals mentioned, I will push the deadline till June 4th. That is another 2 weeks, which should be more than enough to show that people are actually interested.
