Well, we had this as a thing on april fools day, but I assure you this is no april fool...thingy.

In the past few months I've come to realize that I cannot continue like this. My real life is taking over a larger part of me, which shouldn't be a problem - but (and zis is a big butt) - I have far too much to do. Not real life stuff, but GE stuff.

There's still a few missions I am working on, there's over 25 academy courses that are in near-finished or far-past-first-draft stages that need to be tidied up, there's GE DOMÂ³ (Don't even ask me why I started this - I don't know what was driving me when I thought we should go and ride on the OS-activity-wave) picking up speed ...

I would have been able to deal with it all, but I cannot deal with all this, finals and all the shit that has been happening here lately. Yes shit. Some people know what I am talking about, but I am not going to wash my dirty laundry here in public and no, before somepeople start rumors or somebody decides that I am going up against HC, I have nothing against people in HC and they are all doing a fine job.

Right now I can barely keep up with messageboards and chat (or have you seen me on IRC lately? I'm hardly on ICQ/MSN/AIM either) and email communication is the last staple I am holding on to - and that is because I only get very few, very short emails a day.
First I tried juggling a few things "to the side", so I could have more time for GE DOM and one or two minor things, then I tried just pushing back my real life a bit further, I thought I'd try to push in more GE into my life, but I wonder why I even bothered to do so, because except for a few individuals, it seems to me that most people just simply do not appreciate anything.
In the last few days my stress took over when the shit hit the fan here (some people involved might not see it that bad, but I do and I am still the person I care for the most, especially since the thing we talk about means a lot for me after 6 years of work) and I began asking myself "why?" quite often.

Well, it happened again and I am sick of it.
There's no way I can make space for all these things in my schedule and have some free time as well (which I have forced my self to take, lately).
There's no way I am going to deliver a half-assed job on either RL things or GE work.
And there's no way I can just swallow some of the insults that have been slapped into my face over this past week, both verbally and through actions.

I have resigned before, several times over the ancient and thankfully long gone ruling of Daemers, once because of similar time-and-stress reasons, but I don't know what would bring me back this time.
The GE turned from a place of fun to a place of severe stress and anger to me and I cannot deal with two things of those dimensions.

However, I'd like to thank a few people. The list will be short, because I don't want to list have the GE here. There are many I'd like to thank, but there are a few who have outshone the others.
To Fel - Thanks for all the fun, you didn't get to make me Moff anymore.
To Syrt - Thanks for all the fun we had, making the others' lives a living hell.
Steel - Someday I AM going to strangle you!
Jansen - Keep beating La Forge from me, will ya? I am sure Fel will help!
Jagged - Don't you dare to ruin my TC office! Took me minutes to get it all set up!
Laith - See ya in the summer!

I have no idea what this is about, and I won't ask, thats up to the people involved to dicide if they want to. All I want to say is that I think it's sad and I have never tought Vortagh have done a "half-assed job". Becous I don't know what this is about I won't speculate but a thought that crossed my mind is that the GE more and more loads all the work on a few individuals. I don't think that this has made the quality of all the activities decrease but I don't think it is worth to make those people nerve wrecks. It's suposed to fun for HC and senior officers also (With that I don't ingnore that there is outer who are conributing with there free time).

I think this is a discussion the GE really should need to have. I personaly don't think I have always done my best and I sometimes feel a little guilty about it but those who have done there job and just have to much to do to simply be able to preform everything should not feel that way. And should not have people telling him/her that that is what is demanded of them.

On the topic Vortagh is really one of those who really have done his job above his duty. Maby some think it sounds silly to say this but its important that someone who put so much time and effort in something like this should not have to feel like there work is unapriciated and don't need to take crap about it.

It's taken me a while to know how to (or even if) to reply to this. Vort, you've always been one of the top GEers in my mind and you've had a great deal of my respect for most of my five years here.

I'm as much in the dark as Qorl is as to the details here. Vort, know that your work here was always appreciated; and good luck in that strange, alternate reality that people label "RL". You say you don't know what it will take to bring you back this time; I hope some day you find out. There'll always be a place for you here (and maybe even a Moff's place...)

I'd like to conclude by saying something witty in German. Thankfully, my better judgement (and realisation of lack of German language) prevail.

I am, likewise, unfamiliar with circumstances. I'm sorry that all the vast efforts you provided went unappreciated by some, including myself. All those meat and potatoes, when made highly efficient, all too frequently go unnoticed. The ship that leaks recieves criticism, but a smooth ride is rarely complemented. Your efforts for the GE are amazing and I apologize. I've not gotten to know you personally, but to me you've always been "that one administrator guy that does lots of stuff." You're beyond awesome. I hope to see (or meet, hah!) you on IRC sometime.

Unlike most other people who posted, I am quite familiar with the circumstances that led to this step (no, my dear young officer friends, this is not an invitation to ask), but I shall refrain from commenting. Everyone has done, as the saying goes, "all the right things for all the wrong reasons", I suppose.

So, Vort, as soon as you have some more time and a bit less stress on your hands, I expect you to come back here and do something cool. Also, you still owe me that DSA session (German pen&paper RPG for you infidels) in which I play a Praios priest. ;-)

Finally, let me conclude by saying "Junge, ich glaub ich muss echt nochmal im Keller nachsehen ob die Axt noch scharf genug fÃ¼r Knochen is, Junge. Echt jetzt!"

I am also familiar with the circumstances of this (do not ask). But - well - I'm sad to see this happen, but things are the way they are.

Like Syrt said, when you have some more time, come by. We still have a zillion evil plans to go through with... (Scandogernadia lives!). And yes, I owe you a DSA game as well. And of course, there's the wedding.

I await the "Fel, make me a Moff!" mail that will herald your return.

The few words that I will say they will be of an ancient member of the GE who knows for years the trajectory of Vortagh in our Club.
He was, He is and He will be always one of the elements keys and also necessary of our club. Personally I have great appreciation (although He is not known it) and anyone that are the circumstances that now force him to go away to the reserves, I hope that you are could overcome and return soon with us.
And I hope that He return as Moff ( it is the status that him goes better )

Anyways, in case some of you were wondering what I am doing right now...
Well, I was going to link you to a webpage, but it seems that I am so for not able to actually get to the address. As soon as it is up, I will add the link.

Anyways, to take away the suspense: I am currently the head of a film team. That's right. We are taking part in a Shadowrun fan-film project, which has been around for the past ... three years or so and each and every year one movie was worse than the next one.
Sure, there were good parts here and there (and afterall, they had to give out first place to someone), but overall the movies stank. Bad scripts, bad acting (ok, granted - we won't be better in that department, at least not THAT much better, but at least we will have a few trained actors :P), bad sound, no music, bad effects, bad cameras, bad scenery (why does everybody think that gothic == cyberpunk?!?!).

All this pissed off Jannis (my best bud, for those who have never heard the name) and me so much, that we knew we could do better.
Up to this point, we have:
- started finalizing the script
- organized an HD-DV-camera and another DV-camera
- have a canadian industrial band who will do (and already has done) music for the movie (check them out at www.promonium.tv if you are into that kind of music)
- pieced together some sound-equipment,
- started organizing weapons (japanese softair weapons are the best invention ever!)
- started pooling together and casting members, both for the film-team as well as actors (as said, two of them are actually hobby-actors, so it'll be fine :P)

Well, more soon - if anybody's interested that is.
Oh, and before you ask, filming won't start till mid-autumn. The movie is going to play in Seattle and we want rain (and lots of it) and general dark, shitty weather.

Scotland or Ireland are your best bets for that kind of weather, though i'd say some of Glasgow's industrial parks will suit the cyper-punk theme, and the shipyards!!
