They are Army units roughly equivalent to ISDs and VSDs, though they fall somewhere in-between in regards to maximum number of personnel.

Companies are equivalent to Squadrons and Frigates, while Corps are equivalent to System Forces/Sector Groups, at least as the chain of command goes.

Squadrons are fighter squadrons. They're stationed aboard VSDs or ISDs, although we only have two ISDs and one VSD in commission. Only the two ISDs have squadrons.

You could get into a squadron only if you had TIE, XvT or XWA and wanted to transfer. There isn't really much point, since you can play those platforms from where you are.

As for viewing personal details, I believe fighter details are on one of your profile pages(Character Profile Data) and can be adjusted via Admin. Not sure if FRG members have access to this feature, though.

As I've never been a member of the Navy(Go Army!), you'll have to ask a Navy person on exactly where you can edit the fighter info. I think it'll be under Optional Profile Details or possibly Edit Profile.

I think there's been some confusion on your part.

In your current position, you may only advance to Ensign First Class. To move up to Sub-Lieutenant or full Lieutenant, you would have to apply for a First Officer or Captain position on a Frigate. (The Flight Leader and Squadron Commander positions are equivalent for Squadrons, both respective to SCS-1O and SCS-CO.)

You may take any exams, regardless of your current position or rank, unless you're a Cadet. Since you're a full member, you may take any of them should you wish to do so. It doesn't matter if you're Navy and take Army exams or if you're Army and take Navy exams.

Logically, anything restricted to higher positions will only be revealed to you upon your reaching that position, no? So everything you can see, you can do.

To apply for a higher position, you'll need to wait until one is opened up. Check the unit rosters for any such empty spots, then contact the next person up in the chain of command about it.

Ensign First Class, 2LT, Wing Commander, etc are "intermediate" ranks that are a grade higher than the rank below them, but still fill the position for the rank below them. It is perfectly fine to go from EN to SL, and before this "update" to the ranks, this is how it was done (back in the Daemon GE). Lenanor went from EN -> LT because I knew he would be a good leader and at that point I needed a good leader. Keep in mind that sort of jump is NOT common and only happens once in a blue moon. There is precedence for it, though.
