If you remember the calactic history classes you had at the Academy, or at least you should have had, you´ll remember that there were some lessons about the Chiss in specific. In those you should have heard that beside smaller contacts there are rumors of knowledge for several milennia.

But even in the courses of imperial history you should twize and trize remember that we knew of them because of such little things like the Outbound Project or the recruiting of this what was his name, ah yes, GA Thrawn about 19 BBY.

And no, war is not the case.

Colonel, I´m afraid that even those who served with the Grand Admiral for a long time had no idea what species he was, and about the Outbound Project, Palpatine didn´t really share his knowledge.

Oh, I just have to ask, do we have any sort of standing towards Pellaeon, does he exist in our timeline, or is he with some other Imperial faction?

An about history, I am indeed studying it. Several hours every day I spend reading books and learing more about the history of the world.
Indeed, I spend more time studying history than I spend here, wich is to say something.

In the actual time knowledge is much more available than it was in the past years.

Nothing of the "canon" history has been declined or changed by us, there were just several ... smaller inputs like having the/a Chimaera, having the emperor/clone, having another GA etc. That´s one of the cool things here. We haven´t crushed the Rebellion, have 100 ISDs or are a major imperial faction holding bastion. We are "just" one of many factions who alone can´t change the universe in a whole.

Pellaeon, the old genious, is in existence like everyone else and is, as you guessed right, in another faction to which we have as far as I know no real contact.

So it´s okay to write in your archives biography that you´ve encountered Luke Skywalker; but if you write that you´ve killed him last year you can be sure that
I´ll make terror on the archives.

Good to hear that history is still a field of interest.

The Galactic Empire was shattered into dozens of major factions over a few years. First by Palpatine's death at Endor, then by the loss of Coruscant, Thrawn's death, the defeat of the Reborn Emperor. Imperial generals and admirals struck out on their own, taking their commands with them.

It wasn't reversed until Daala brought most of the Warlords together, then assassinated them. She effectively ruled the Empire, passing control to Pellaeon when she failed at Yavin IV. That happened in 12ABY. We're currently nine years after Endor, or thirteen after Yavin. I guess someone usurped control from Pellaeon, since we have Yaga Minor...

Can´t we just say that Pellaeon has agreed to give us some territory in exchange for our continued resistance against the New Republic.
I´d hate to think that anyone managed to take control from the last true Grand Admiral.

Beside the fact that at the moment he´s not a GA as this is to come in future as far as I remember right, and I think I do, seizing controll from Pellaeon without his agreement is maybe possible, but a) difficult b) costly and c) heretic!

Aye, he won't become a Grand Admiral until the peace treaty between the Remnant and the Republic is signed. He's either a full Admiral or Fleet Admiral at this point in the timeline.

Besides, as some people believe, only the Emperor is able to promote personnel to Grand Admiral, so technically he'll hold that rank illegally.

Whether without emperor and having the Council of Moffs as legal, official and more or less absolute ruling body of the Empire the promotion is completely legal; and for many many years pre and past the only promotion to GA who I can agree on.

I mean, promotion for technical brilliance and improvement of technology etc.; okay, but not as high as GA. Promotion in the military for driving on the racist area of the new Order? Bullshit! This is a field for civilians, but not for military. Promotion for military brilliance? Yes, that´s the field. So that´s the right area. And so of all those who were promoted to GA, 14 if we exclude Daemon, about 3 were really deserved.

Thrawn, Declann, Grant and Thesik all basically deserved the promotion.

Grunger, Makati, Syn and Zaarin were most likely good commanders but probably not good enough to deserve the GA.

Takel was a great srategist but also adicted to drugs and alien women, so he was a bit to unstable.
Ishin-II-Ras, Mario Batch, Rufaan Tigellinus and Danetta Pitta were not even military.

Though I got to say, if here were a civilian GA than Tigellinus deserved it.
I mean, he outsmarted Thrawn!!!

More likely the drugs.

And Tigellinus didn't outsmart Thrawn. It was all an elaborate ploy engineered by Thrawn and Palpatine to send Thrawn off to the Unknown Regions - a location no Grand Admiral would be sent to unless punished or otherwise out of favour.

The Remnant that signed the peace treaty had eight sectors. According to the Hand of Thrawn duology, Thrawn started the buildup that had about two hundred sectors at the same time.

I know that but what I mean is that Thrawn choose him because his political prowess. Infcact, he was almost to good, and almost had Thrawn striped of all power before Palpatine intervened in the last moment.

Colonel Longstreet: It does´nt really matters wether you like human or aliens, if you are to obsessed with them your command ability is still damaged. As is your reputation.

The strange thing about Pellaeon is that every campaign before the Pellaoen-Gavrisom treaty he was in seem to have failed, but everybody both here and in the SW universe still loves him, and he is considered a great commander.
