Ok... I'll start off by saying that I'm am truly a TIE Interceptor pilot. I could never really handle the old TIE fighter. I've always thought it garbage and obsolete.
With that being said, I've been trying to get through ERS-16 and I'm having a bugger of a time. I feel that if I had my trusty T/I I'd be fine, with the extra speed and 4 lasers we'd be a match in saving the Artemis. But unfortunatly I'm only stuck with the TIE Fighter. I don't have the speed or the firepower to plow through the Y and X-wings that show up.
So.... What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to save the Artemis?

Yes, there is a way to save the Artemis, I am sure. There have been a number of pilots who have done it, and I may have even done it myself a while back.

Normally I'd agree with you but, I've tried that and its not working. Though I have to admit that the Y-wings are not firing missiles or torps at the Cruiser their just using lasers.
The Rebels method of attack is a wave of y-wings enter. I can divert all of them and take them out before the 50% that the Cruiser starts with is gone, but the best of done is 6%. But after that there's another wave of Y-wings and a squad of X-wings. Both of which attack the cruiser until a VSD arrives. They give some minor reinforcements but because the Cruiser is so disabled I can't help them before they get destroyed.

Ok, for those who dislike the TF:
-The TF has two laser cannons, the TI four. However, the TF has a higher firing rate wich means that it can fire two double shots in the same time that a TI takes to fire a quad shot and... reload. In single firing mode the TF will provide a much intense barrage fire than the TI (good against newbies and for newbies)
-The TF is a bit slower than the TI. So what?
-The TF has a slightly lower turning rate than the TI. However, only the few among you can take advantage of this.
-The TF´s laser cannons are not only within the centre of gravity and beneath your feet... they are also very close to eachother. An experienced pilot will know to love these features then they provide him highly accurate shots.
-The TF has the best profile in the game. It is very hard to hit from above/rear/front/behind,, especially if using a quad cannon ship. The situation changes when you are clumsy and get your opponent to attack you from the sides. The TI also has this problem but to a lesser extent. The TI profile isn´t as good as the TF one though. The curved panels increase the likabilty of a hit.
Sadly, as with the TA and especially the TD, the TI´s advantages tend to be either wasted or unused by their pilots.
