Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Post by COL Nexant »

The mentioned game comes out in a week or less really depending where you live. 9/16 USA, 9/17 SE Asia & Australia, 9/19 Europe

Anyone really want it or really hate it? I've already had my preorder in for awhile. I think it looks prett cool.

I'm partial: if I play it somewhere and it's awesome I might buy it but even then I'll let the price fall before I get it. Not that exciting that I'll pay $50 for it :P

The consensus amongst those gamers in the SW community seems to be that it's a big pile of stinking crap. Not available for PC, strictly linear storyline, no multiplayer...

Oh, not for PC? Then no, I'm not going to get it. A shame, considering Lucasarts biggest platform is PC.

For some reason they felt the need to put multiplayer on Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and Nintendo Wii. But not what will probably be the biggest sellers of Xbox 360 and PS3.

and the quote is "LucasArts decided that they would rather not make players spend too much money on an expensive PC, stating that the physics would be too processor-intensive for normal computers."

If you've played the Episode III game for PS2, you've played Force Unleashed. That's all I really need to say about it :P

I've played the demo for it on my PS3 and I would never go as far as rating it similar to Episode 3. That game is by far in a catagory of its own. Aside from the worlds worst voice acting which this does not have though Vader could be alittle bit better, and a camera you cannot control the angle of which you can in this. That game was just awful.

Also, the euphoria engine by NaturalMotion Ltd. really does do a good job making them life like and squirmy when you hold a rebel in the air with a force before you turn him into a lightining bomb or use a force blow to cannonball him into a wall or toss him out, I mean through, the nearest hatch window into space. And the Digital Molecular Matter engine by Pixelux Entertainment does a really good job with the environment as you destroy it into little pieces.

Yeah, the Euphoria engine does a really good job of making one rebel holding onto a crate hard to lift, but TIE Fighters take absolutely no effort. There's those awesome physics at work :P

And it doesn't surprise me that the camera and voice acting are the only things you can find that differ from the Episode III game - the combat system is virtually the exact same, as are most of the force powers. Charged Force Push? Chained lightning? Levitating things before sending them flying into other things with a flick of the wrist? All in Episode III. If the Jedi bosses aren't just tougher enemies that can use some Force, I'll go out, buy a hat, and eat it.

As for the "Digital Molecular Matter Engine", I would be more impressed if droids didn't get sliced diagonally across the midsection every single time I attacked them, even if I sliced straight down the middle. I suppose the money they saved on the animations went into paying for all the bullshit merchants talking about this game like it's the Second Coming :P

Ive played it and I like it. I obviously have no where near as refined a taste for electronic media as ALT Erinos obviously has. I don't really need things to be perfect I just like it because I have fun blasting shit with huge force blasts and using my sith armor and obsidian lightsaber. Also because I can use my powers much more freely than in other games much more destructively. Sure the other older games i could push a guy or pull his weapon or choke him. Now I can blast down doors and grap up to 3 guys at a time and punt them with the force. Use force lightining to electrify my lightsaber or make a lightining shield around myself. Or jump into a group of enemies and use force repulse to blast them all away from me. In all I find it entertaining and its the reason I havent been around much since it came out lol.

Your thinly veiled sarcasm would be a lot less retarded if you weren't trying to criticise me for badmouthing a game that didn't deliver on it's insane amount of hype :P
