Some problems with Empire at War

I have two problems with EAW

First:
I got EAW Gold Edition for Christmas. Whenever I play the Forces of Corruption half, the graphics for the land battles get all screwed up. The entire battlefield (not the HUD) is a sickly gray with various shades of white and black scattered around. Here's a link that shows what I'm talking about:

Any help on how to fix this? I contacted Lucasarts and they told me that my computer didn't meet the system reqs which I know is a complete lie. I can play the land battles for the original EAW without any problems. It's just the land battles in Forces of Corruption that suffer from this. And besides, I can play games with much higher system reqs than EAW such as Medieval 2 Total War and Company of Heroes with no problems. Any ideas?

Second:
Can anyone help me get through the Imperial Campaign? I'm stuck on the space battle over Jabiim. Every time I attack, the planetary ion cannon disables all my Star Destroyers. Any way to get through this?

The most likely candidate here are bad drivers. Try to install the newest drivers available for your card, at either ATI's or Nvidia's homepage. If that doesn't work, try older drivers (and don't be afraid to use VERY old ones, either. Like 1.5 year old ones for example.). I assume you have an ATI card? Could you tell me which model you use?
