CHAPTER 9

Unfortunately for Thomas and Alex there was a guard listening to their conversation. The next day while Thomas and Alex were talking to john during their gym time the rebel guard walked up and told them to follow him. They were lead to the door that took the single card then led into a labyrinth of corridors to the warden’s office. Thomas leaned closer to Alex “things just got complicated” Alex was whispering to him. When they got to the office they were seated inside across from a man who hat to be as old as General Burton and when he spoke he made the desk tremble. “You two plan to get me and my guard’s information? How?” he asked them both. All Alex could do was say “sir you haven’t told us who you are sir.” “I am Major Samuel Harsten” the man answered. They talked for two hours about what he wanted them to do then they were brutally thrown back into their cell.
The next day during gym the same guard dropped two what looked like ration bar sized things on the ground and walked away. John went over and picked them up and an announcement came over the loud speaker “all prisoners back to your cells” they went slowly and john caught up with them “oy Thomas lookit these.” He said and showed him two key cards that looked old and fake “ya think we could use ‘em to escape?” “Uh yeah probably could.” Thomas told him. Later that night all the cells were searched for two “missing” key cards and the first cell the guards checked was Thomas’s and Alex’s cell. “You two come with us now!” “Move it” were the guard’s next demands and back down to the office we went.
We woke up to two rebel guards dragging us out of our cell the next day. Alex was bleeding from his lip and he had a black eye. I could have imagined what I looked like. “Shower time you scum” one of the guards had said to them. “You got to look good for the Majors birthday.” The guard said then the rest of the guards started laughing. “prisoners….bac….t…..ou….ce…” the comm. had started to say then there was a terrible howling like there was a sandstorm happening outside which meant more chances of escape.
