Hi Guys recruiting
Moderator: High Command
That's right. It's well and good to decide to fight a war, but I don't know about you guys but I fight to win. And if we can't field plenty of pilots, I don't see how we could win.

Well, the Rebel Squadrons have been around longer than the GE and they usually went to war with the Emperor's Hammer. However, there were a few incidents (involving one of the EH subgroups going rogue and being officially recognized by the RS, which, of course, infuriated the EH leadership) and so I am not sure if they still do battle or if they've chosen to furiously ignore each other now. Both organisations, by the way, are much larger than the GE - even though they are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven.
In these aforementioned old days, a few members (including yours truly) tried to find a rebel club our size and we even succeeded. It was called the "New Republic" and had slightly less members than us at that time. They're probably not even around anymore. Alas, everything that had to do with inter-club relations has to be officially sanctioned by Daemon, who, as we all know, was not to keen to work overtime regardless of whether it'd have helped the GE. So it didn't work out.
Also, a while back a couple of people (again, including yours truly) suggested to create a wargame which would involve two clubs battling each other in various game platforms - with battles resulting in real losses in ships and fighters and walkers and everything. Unfortunately, everyone felt being lazy instead and so the project kinda died, too (yes, it's partly my fault).
I like the fact that people still have ideas, but being a bitter old man (in terms of online SW clubs), I feel obliged to tell you that it's been proven to take a lot of work and dedication to make things work. And it's also been proven time and again, that many people underestimate the work and overestimate their own dedication. Enthusiasm is one thing, but if you feel exhausted after writing 5-10 pages of coursework, don't even consider starting ambitious projects like that.
Just thought y'all should know. :P

Well... my IDF war game is allmost done, and by far the most complacated. It is based off of (and with permision of) Pavz's PO&BO. But we use a map, the one from the Star Wars insider. Its a huge map with over 35 planets. Also there are spaceyards, and the space yards can only make a few kids of crafts.
ex:
Draken Shipyards
Location:
Data Calssified
Capabilities:
·Assault Gunboat Squadron
·Assault Frigate
·Dreadnaught
·Escort Shuttle
Construction Time:
·Capital Ships - 4 turns
·Starfighters - 3 turns
Specialization:
·Can create a Veteran Dreadnaught for the price of a Novice Dreadnaught.
·Can create an Ace Escort Shuttle for the price of an Officer Escort Shuttle
Resources:
5,000C per turn
Its bay far one of the most complex 1s i have ever seen. Its taken me 2 months and i'm allmost done.

That's a good point, Syrtaras. I wasn't going to get very lengthy in my post, but I'll flesh it out a little more here.
I think on one hand it would be very enjoyable to do something like that - or it would have been, back when we had sufficient resources to do it. Now, I think that we'd just make fools of ourselves because the modern Galactic Empire simply lacks the ability to do something like that. Look at the second Orus wargame: one of the reasons it stopped was because was lacked the manpower to do it right.
Although they did not take place that long ago, the internal wargame Supremacy 2 and Operation Purge Orus (quasi-internal) had a great deal more people involved because the GE had more people available. In OP:PO for example, the GE was able to staff two of the three factions. Now, in Beyond Orus, we could barely do one.
This is not to say I am steadfastly opposed to doing anything of this nature. As I said originally, I would thoroughly enjoy something like this (this is what the GE is really for, after all) and the fact that I'm a veteran of three such wargames speaks to my committment. That said, I think it would be unwise for us to just jump on this without giving it plenty of thought to figure out how we could get it to work on our end before we even think of talking to them.
Also, as a reminder to any over-eager junior officers, such as ones who like to fight just for the sake of fighting (which, I will point out since I am a real military officer - no good leader fights just for the thought of bloodshed; remember, it is the soldier who truly appreciates peace), anyway, I will remind you that talking to other clubs and working out agreements is a job for the High Command. However, unlike the "previous administration" this one will act on things like that and I assure you that if it is feasible, we'll explore it.
I know that on three or four occasions I was approached by ambassadors from other organizations like ours (since SFO is directly below SC on the HC chart). One was for an alliance, one or two were because they wanted to try and merge with us (giving both groups more members) and one was for a wargame like this. Sadly, in all cases, I could only tell them that I couldn't make that call despite my HC position and such decisions could only be made by Daemon. In each case they told me that they had already contacted him several times but had not received a reply. So, the precedent is there, as Syrtaras pointed out. Nonetheless, we have to look at the big picture, and right now, the Galactic Empire is hardly in a condition to fight a war.
Now, if you can magically come up with a squadron of pilots for me, I will be more than happy to lead an attack on a Rebel Fleet. Until then, I can only bitterly sit in my quarters and further add to my alcoholism, reading reports about other Imperial Fleets and their victories.
(Note: I posted this after the little comment by Syrtaras, so I couldn't address it originally. I will now: that was halarious.)

Never say never!
I hate that saying.
I will try to recruit more people myself, but what could we do in order to get a squadron or more for the Navy? Hang up signs around our neighborhoods? At Christmas time, ring bells and hand out flyers for the GE?
But what if we got on something like yahoo for example, ran a search for XvT, XWA, and so on, and see if anyone was interested there. No SW flight sim geek will pass up the chance to fly more.

i think the Legion needs to looks towards investing in a Game Server for Jedi Knight Academy Dedicated of course. It would beat IRC cause people could play or chat for the legion as well as recruit.
WoW games are not one by mere numbers of members but they are won by whos members win more. honestly i think we should just live in the XvT zone XWA zone and online in Dedicated Servers for the Legion. If other clans can still do it we should too just to try to keep up with the times. I know we like to think of our self has a independant organization that can do everything internally but that just is not True. Recruiting needs to be external and dedicated in some respect.

Yes Captain, you may also add me to your fine list of pilots. I am always willing to serve you.
LT Kiles, in response to your idea about a dedicated server for JA or another game, it sounds like an excellent idea but generally costs money to make it work pretty good. Or at least that was the case back when I worked with Day of Defeat clans a while back. If you know of a way to come up with such money, my ears are more than open, but otherwise I have my doubts.

7, Cap'n.
Anybody explored the idea of a game like Warlords again? I think Wedge was gonna work on it some, and I'd expect Jansen still has all the old files... So what's the possibility of something like that?
