The Battered Warrior Returns....

Post by RES Mitchell »

*MSG Mitchell hobbles in, favoring his fractured skull*

I'm back from LOA, reporting for duty, and in one piece....barely. I currently have a fractured skull and hematoma in my temporal lobe, so my fiction might take a while to get published in the Archives and on the Epsilon site, as I am slowly recovering from my injuries (the skull fracture might take two months to heal).

Congrats to SL Russell for his promotion, and many thanks to High Command for awarding the IVM to me. When my Dilantin wears off, I'll update my sig to reflect my service jacket. For the Greater Glory of the Empire!!

And I ride off into the sunset and into my bedroom...

No, but I think I'll just admit myself into the sick bay and have one of those pretty nurses fluff up my pillows, a luxury I didn't have in Dalton, Georgia (all I got there was BP checks every two hours in the wee hours of the morning).

Nice to have you back Mr. Mitchell, but not in that shape! What did you do? Try to take out an X-wing by ramming your head against the engines? :D Seriously though, get better soon!

Well, it would seem that you are temporarily out of commission for combat then. But, as already stated, do get better soon, and welcome back home.

A quick baseball lesson for you all...keep you eye on the ball at all times, no matter how routine a fly ball may seem. The ball might drill you in the temple on the way down....

ah... the old baseball in the head.

*thinks back to that day during little league practice in which Nathan gets hit in the head with the ball*

*runs back to quarters sobbing*

Thank God it was a softball that hit me in the head, lest I would be dead and writing poetry with Jim Morrison in that great acid dive in the sky...

Softball? Heh. Mom just broke her finger on a fly ball, and several years ago so also caught one with her forehead. That was a day or two after I banged my head on the sleeper sofa, so we had matching goose eggs on our foreheads. :P

I heard the Doors mentioned, and therefore I must post immediately. That band has gotten me through of all of my hard times with their music, and is by far my favorite band. Even in my times of greatest depression, their music... well, maybe it made me worse but it did so in a way that allowed me to understand myself better in crazy ways, and see life in a new light.

Strangely, I have often taken the time to read more about the band and understand many of things stated in their songs much better including my favorite song of all time, The End. It has indeed proven to be quite interesting.

Well, "The End" is my favorite Doors ditty, of course, but I also dig "Break on Through (To the Other Side)", "Touch Me", "Peace Frog", "LA Woman", "People Are Strange", and "Riders On the Storm".

Ahhh...good stuff, like dead Indians, loss of blood, Negroes in forests of azure, virgins in hotel rooms....

But the question is, how much sense does it actually make to you? For many things, especially in The End, there is some meaning that is sort of hard to notice at first.

True, but even if one can't figure those things out, it's still great music. But it's still good to know that the whole "ride the snake" thing has something to do with Morrison's shaman background, for example...
