!!! Imperial Archivist Needed !!!

Post by Guest »

I will be momentarily taking over Vort’s duties as Head Imperial Archivist, until the SC picks a new one.

Since Vort and myself were the major Archivists in the team, we are in need of new ones. There were many more then Vort and myself who signed up for the Imp.Arc team, but it seems that we did most of the work.

I know there were those who contributed to the Imp.Arc, and I thank you. A lot of people added a bit here and there. And little amounts add up. I thank you all for this, I myself and other do notice your work. So I need more Archivists. If you are interested please let me know. Your services are noted.

Of course I would be willing to help out in any way possible. I originally wanted to do so, but was fairly unclear about what was expected from me. Perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to show that I wasn't just flat out lazy.

You need to know how to use Wiki. Thats about all that is needed.

But i wish for all archivists to have aol im (so we can set up meetings), know a good deal of SW History, and have some spare time on their hands.

Now if you do not have im, or dont know a lot of SW/EU history, thats ok. You will still be allowed to become an Imp.Arc team member. But if you do not have that much time on your hands, then i dont think you should apply.

All that would be needed at the lowest would be a 1/2-1 hour per week of time for the Imp.Arc. As with most things i'm flexable.

I do understand that the jobs of the Archivists were unclear, that will change now.

Here is what I plan:

Archive Staff:

The Head Imperial Archivist:
Will over see the rest of the Archivists. He also should apply most of the work in the Imp.Arc. All information added to the Imp.Arc must be passed through him first, no so that he can place what he wants, but so that it is easer to keep track of. There for making the Imp.Arc Team have an easier job.

Recon Archivist:
Is an Archivist who is directed the Head Archivist to help the Recon Director in his search for information. Since the Recon Director and Head Archivist work together to help find information for the Imp.Arc. The problem is that with all the duties of the Head Archivist he may have trouble finding time to assist the Recon Director. Therefore Recon Archivists are archivists that help the recon director to secure information for the GE.

General Archivist:
Watch over the General section of the Imperial Archives. They watch over the entire section and may have up to two Assistant Archivist helping them in their duties.

Personal Archivist:
Watch over the Personal section of the Imperial Archives. They watch over the entire section and may have up to two Assistant Archivist helping them in their duties.

Historical Archivist:
Watch over the Historical section of the Imperial Archives. They watch over the entire section and may have up to two Assistant Archivist helping them in their duties.

Technical Archivist:
Watch over the Technical section of the Imperial Archives. They watch over the entire section and may have up to two Assistant Archivist helping them in their duties.

Equipment Archivist:
Watch over the Equipment section of the Imperial Archives. They watch over the entire section and may have up to two Assistant Archivist helping them in their duties.

Additional Archivists:

Assistant Archivist:
Make up the largest part of the Archivists. They work in any and all areas of the Archives. They are directed to temporary watch over areas of the Imp.Arc by the Head Archivists. Assistant Archivist may also be directed to work on a section of the Imp.Arc. Also they may be ordered to help one of the members on the Archive Staff.

I dont think we will ever have and/or need these numbers to mantain the Imp.Arc... but i like to be ready, just in case :P

I'd be happy to help out as a "recon archivist". I know quite a few good sites w/ information, technical stuff, etc, etc on them... I'm sure I could find more. Don't exactly wanna oversee other stuff, but happy to find stuff for ya.

All that we are takeing now are the Assistant Archivists.

You caould become a Assistant Archivist and i can give you a TDA as the recon archivist...

...speaking of which... all Archivist positions are TDA :P

Do you think that there could be a possibility of implementing archivists into some sort of Imperial Institution, based on TDAs? Maybe that sounds a bit far-fetched, but it could prove to be fairly interesting if not efficient looking.

Also, will you be using an application system for the different duties, or just going by the interest of the people who contact you otherwise?

All now wish to be an Archivest will become Assistant Archivists. After we have a team we can think about the other positions.

Also the SC has to approve these TDA Archivist positions. So all who join now will become Assistant Archivists.

As far as I understand the whole concept, it was meant to be "everybody can do anything he/she wants", without having a guy for any given job.

Yeah... I'm not real concerned about adding some TDA to my ID line or something. Just happy to help out, whatever I have to do... Research is probably where my efforts are best spent, though.

Seven positions? For something that's merely an "extra" so to speak in the GE? For something that, as Vortagh pointed out already, was meant to be designed as some kind of "open knowledge" system?

Solidis, are you sure you're taking the right path with this?

I have limited time on the internet, but I am interested. What about something like historical archivist. Would that require me getting online a lot? Or would I just be able to read SW books, like the Thrawn trilogy!!!!. :D

Hence The Assistant Archivists.

Note that this was just ann idea, one that i even said i didnt think the HC would like to much.

"As far as I understand the whole concept, it was meant to be "everybody can do anything he/she wants", without having a guy for any given job." -Vort

yes, that is what it was ment to be... but that was also the problem. Any one could add anything anywhere, haveing some sections very large, wile others would be very small. Also thats a lot harder to mantain.

Some people are better in diffrent sections also.... we have people who know the SW history like they know their family. Some even know it better then their family. Others, like Calder, Russell, and Mitch are great at Fiction. So some would add mostly to one area.

And some only want to watchover/add to one area. There for all thies positions are a "Test" to see if this will work.

And any one who want to be an Archivist is a Assistant Archivist. Remember that first we need a team before we can do anything else. After and only after we have a team can we maybe start putting people in these positions.

And every archivist could and shall add anything every where in the Imp.Arc, but these positions are like their majors if you will. Their strong areas. They wouldn't have to be in one of the 7 position to be in the Imp.Arc Team, they would just need to be a Assistant Archivist.

Anyone understanding me here?
