GE Fleet News - 15th August 2004

#1. New Navy platform to be supported shortly

It is with joy that I can annouce that a new multiplayer platform will soon be supported by the Imperial Navy. This is a historic day for the Empire as the new platform is
not a Lucasarts game. It is in fact, the modification for Freelancer, a game from Microsoft. Free Worlds is a total conversion for that game, and is fully multiplayer online
with no subscription fees. There is a US and a UK server, it is likely that our operations will be based on the US server. For further details of the game, please visit
www.free-worlds.com and also to MS games site for details of Freelancer.

The final details will be sorted once the BCC requirements are finalised, but interested parties in leading the newly commissioned Zeta Squadron (on the ISD Chimaera)
are asked to email me with an application as soon as possible.

#2. Ladder medal awards

I am happy to annouce the following ladder results, which had activity:
XvT Ladder:
1st place 2LT Mar, with 25 points, who receives the [IVC-SW]
2nd place CL Wedge, 19 points, who receives the [IVC-BW] as well
3rd place SL Russell, 2 points, who receives a [MoM]
JA Ladder:
1st place to HCL Derlin, with 23 points to received the [IVC-SL]
2nd place to ALT Catman, 22 points who receives the [IVC-BL]
3rd place tp CPL Braunin, with 8 points who receives a [MoM]
JO Ladder:
Special note to HCL Derlin and SL Russell, who came 1st and 2nd respectively, although no awards are awarded here due to lack of overall activity.

Good luck to all participants in the next ladders, which are underway at the moment! They run until the end of this month.

#3. New administration system goes live

I am also happy to annouce that a new admin system is coming online. Please use the link on the left to login, however the only working module currently is the change
authcode. Further modules are to be added this week, please keep an eye out for them appearing. Any bugs such of course be sent to me inbox with a detailed description!
Upon logging in you shall see a security clearance level in the top bar. This is a semi-arbitrary system to determine your administrative access. As you get to command larger
forces, your clearance will rise.

#4. Galactic Empire meetings and messageboards

I hope to have a meeting this Saturday at 1800 BST (GMT+1) in #galactic_empire on the Undernet IRC network. Please attend if possible, as major news annoucements are
given here, and it is also a chance to quiz the senior staff. Any queries should be directed to myself or any of the senior staff. Alternatively, post a message on the GE:ER
messageboards at http://www.empirereborn.net/holonet. It is essential that all members visit often, as it is most important to our club.

As always, my email box is always open, and the same goes for any staff in the fleet - feel free to email as necessary. I'm also able to be contacted on AIM under the name
"GE Polanski". I should almost always be free to chat if I'm not marked as away.

The platform Free-Worlds is being implemented by other Star Wars's clubs. This can be an excellent opportunity to have competences Multiplayer with other clubs. Congratulations, Fleet Admiral Polanski.

Does anyone think that we should play Starcraft? Does anyone else even play it? That would be a great multi-player game! I'd like to do warcraft III too, but that isn't space oriented. So is that a good idea, or just another bad one. Just wondering,,,

You are free to try to find people through IRC or the message board who would like to play those games with you, but because they are not Star Wars and there are no mods to make them Star Wars they'd never be supported as an official platform.

also we have battlegrounds and force commander already as strategy games, so i donÂ´t think much people will be so interested in another one.

I don't really like FC, but Galactic battlegrounds is pretty good. They're nothing compared to Starcraft, though.

Free Worlds seems to realy interesting. iÂ´ve made my first check-flight in a civilian Z-95 yesterday

unfortunately i died in my first engagement with 2 pirates

as an advice: read the rules before you play!!!

there are alot rules (as itÂ´s kind of RPG) and they seem to be very strict with them.
