NO!

sorry to be that direct, but it wouldn´t be good for anything.
who would dare to make a PvP fight against Pol or Jansen???

but think my opinion is not so importent on this as i don´t have a combat oriented char.

I second what Splatter said. I found the professions to be utterly imbalanced in PVP. Even as a master Carbineer with a very good weapon, a TKM will beat me any time. There's no point for me to fight most people.

I did consider a duel ladder, but it is as Vortagh said. It's just not possible.

In addition to that, it is not a matter of skill - as in piloting a craft and knowing how to do it right - but a matter of equipment, profession and so on. Steel could beat anybody in a TIE/D while flying a TIE/F himself, but try something similar in SWG and your dead. :P

So unless you have a really good idea about how to implement this that I was too stupid to think of (always a possibility).... :P

TKM can beat a master carbineer every time? Heh, nope, only if you let him get close.

Now, I absolutely suck at PvP, and I do mean suck (even as a TKM/master fencer I only ever PvPed if a buddy needed help, or my guild was going as a group - never alone) but if you know what you're at, most master combat profs have a chance.

TKM is great for PvE, but overhyped for PvP . . . for a start the defences on a pure TKM suck.

Ok, in that case I will bring up the thing about combining professions to make it unfair towards those who do not have a character who chose two or more combat professions to help him.

As a ranged master if you're getting beaten by TKM every time, then you have issues.

1) TKM can only do one kind of damage. Just one. And oh, everyone is wearing armor with like, 80% protection for that one damage type.
2) TKM have crap defences.
3) TKM's maximum hit distance is, what, 20m or so?

Now, yes, almost every time a PvP-built toon will beat a non-PvP-built toon. But since when did that make dueling pointless? Are there lots of dodge-stacked PvP only players in this guild? Master pikemen with awesome DoT weapons? Combat medics throwing disease at 80m?

Besides which - how do you learn to be better at PvP? You duel. It's a helluva lot better to learn what works and what doesn't against a buddy who won't DB you that it is to learn it with a tripple incap that leads to decay. Of course, if no-one here wants to PvP at all, that doesn't actually matter; but I don't get why someone would be a combat character in a faction if they never want to do any PvP.

As for skills vs skill . . . SWG is not a twitch game, true. But a PvP player who is very skilled can beat a less skilled player with a better template, and it happens all the time. Very few of the truly great PvPers I know have ever had a stacked, FOTM template.

I have a dumb question about SWG. Is it an internet only game, or can you level up offline? And also, if the fromer applies, how often would you have to be on? Thanks,

Yes, you are required to be online in order to play the game at all (there is a subscription cost FYI). How much time you spend online in the game is entirely up to yourself - obviously the more time you dedicate to it to more quickly you will progress :-)

It's entirely online, and a 14-day free trial is now available - so you can check it out without needing to pay anything (if you like it, you can upgrade to a full paid account).

If you're playing quite a lot (say, one or two 3 hour sessions a day) then you level up very quickly.

If you really go for it, at that speed you can master just about any combat professions in a couple of weeks. (My personal record was two days to master fencer, but I know plenty of people who mastered combat profs in less.) Crafting professions - things like weaponsmith, armorsmith, and architect - generally take a lot longer.

Generally, if you "play smart" you can level up your character much, much faster than if you just have fun and roam around - so it's up to you whether you want to do things in a fast but boring way, or a slow but exciting way. Also there is a big range of content - places and missions that you can only do if you're in a big group of various masters, and places and missions that are challenging but fun even when you're starting out.

So, you don't need to stress about levelling quickly if you don't want to.
