Operation Reforger Begins!

Post by Wedge »

Officers of the Galactic Empire, Operation Reforger has begun! Below is a brief description of the events and the prizes for each category. If you have any questions please direct them to either myself or Commander La Forge.

GE Fleetwide Competition Activities

The entire competition will be operated on a point system. Successful completion of an activity will result in a certain amount of points being awarded to the player, depending on the activity. Due to the point based system, the person with the most points at the end of the competition will be named the overall competition winner and receive an Imperial Victory Medal, Gold Bar. Good luck to all participants.

The competition begins today. Depending on the activity during the competition the end date is tentatively set on September 11th for all categories except Fiction, which will end on September 25th. However if we see enough activity we may extend the end date for the rest of the activities to the 18th or 25th. Round 1 begins today and will end at 12:00 pm noon Eastern Standard Time, on Saturday the 4th.

When submitting something for review, make sure it is emailed to al the officers listed as judges for the particular event. If you are sending in an art piece or a work of fiction, email it to Captain Calder, Moff Vortagh, Commander La Forge and I. Everything else goes to La Forge and myself.

1. Recruitment
(Judged by Captain Wedge and Commander La Forge)

Any player who recruits a new member will be awarded 200 points so long as the new member confirms their recruiter's identity in their join email.

The winner of the Recruitment category will receive a Medal of Merit, or a possible Bronze Seal, depending on how many recruits they bring in. This is in addition to the standard Medal of Expansion everyone will receive for each recruit.

2. Flying
(Judged by Captain Wedge and Commander La Forge)

-Each week the competition organizers will select a mission for XWA, XvT and TIE. Each person who flies a mission will receive 25 points, the person with the highest score in their category
(XWA, XvT or TIE) will receive an additional 25 points

The person who had the highest score during the length of the competition for each platform (XvT, XWA and TIE) will receive an Imperial Victory Cross, Bronze Wings.

For Round 1 the missions are as follows:
TIE Fighter: ERS -40
X-wing vs. TIE Fighter: ERS-36
X-wing Alliance: The Skirmish file attached to this message.

3. Graphic Design
(Judged by Line Captain Calder, Captain Wedge, Commander La Forge and Moff Vortagh)

There are three different subcategories of Graphic Design; Free art, Unit Patch and Banner. All files will be judged on style, creativity, and originality for a maximum total of 100 points for Free images and Banners, and 50 points for unit patches. All Images must be saved as a GIF. Only two submissions from any category are allowed per person per week.

-Free Art: Free Art is basically what it sounds like. Must be a Star Wars image, preferably Imperial related. The image can be any reasonable size, though we suggest something under 640x480 if you think you can make it larger without sacrificing quality, go ahead.

-Unit Patch: Create a small unit patch for your ship, squadron or the GE. Images must be no larger than 80 x 80 pixels.

-Banner: Create a banner for your ship, squadron, or the GE. The image must be 468x60 pixels.

At the end of the competition the person with the highest score for each sub category (Free Art, Banner and Unit Patch), will receive an Imperial Victory Medal, Bronze Bar.

4. Fiction
(Judged by Line Captain Calder, Captain Wedge, Commander La Forge and Moff Vortagh)

There will be a run on story and each week we will accept submissions for the next chapter. Each submitted chapter will be judged on Quality, Originality and Creativity for a maximum of 50 points. The winner each week will receive 50 points. After all submissions are in the best one will be selected for inclusion in the run on story. Each submission must be a minimum of one page, single-spaced in Times New Roman or Ariel and no bigger than size 12 font. The first chapter will be provided, and participants will have to continue with the characters introduced in it, though they can also develop their own. The story should be GE related, i.e. using GE ships and characters if the author wishes to. All submissions must be in by Saturday morning of each week, Sunday evening the scores are posted and the next round begins. Chapter 1, written by Commander La Forge, has been posted on the GE Message boards. Remember, do not post a reply on the message boards, send your chapter by email to all the judges of this category.

The overall winner of the Fiction competition will be the person with the highest overall score in this category. The winner will receive an Imperial Victory Medal, Silver Bar.

5. General Activity

-Any participant that attends a GE meeting will receive 10 points.

Good luck and good hunting. Let the games begin.

This looks like a great competition. Please forward me the banners for the GE:ER, as I might well include them on the official banner page.

Good luck to all!

Hate to be a nitpicker, but the GE awards Bronze Seals not Bronze Stars. :-)

No, I think the STL (2000 and 2001) medals were, in fact processed by the late Grand Admiral Daemon. :P

What was that big championship thing, where you got points based on doing graphics, writing stories, recruiting etc . . . I think there were maybe two of them . . . I'm pretty sure those medals weren't all handed out - were they?

GE Domination. And I mocked Vort for not tallying scores way back in my old reports. :P

Was that Dom and Dom II? It might have been - the medals were never awarded for the second version, anyway.
