GE Fleet Memo: 22nd December 2004

Contained within is a roundup of the latest news and events of the past few weeks. Several important operational announcements are also included in this message, which should not be overlooked!

Please note that a GE wide Leave of Absence has been granted for the festive season â€“ all officers are free not to respond to email or take part in activities until the 27th

(1) Imperial Navy Operations change!
It is with great pleasure that I announce one of the largest changes in the Empire for quite a while. With immediate effect, the Navy Fleet Commander becomes the Commander of the Navy (CoN). Admiral Fel is therefore the first officer to hold this position. My congratulations to him! My role in the Empire will not change slightly to be more of an all encompassing Supreme Commander â€“ a role more in touch with my title. Previous promotional restrictions placed on the Navy Fleet Commander are not removed, and Admiral Fel is free to appoint whoever his feels necessary to any post in the Navy. (The previous shortening of NavyFC will still apply to this post, and also the new convention of CoN.)

(2) Admiral Fel promoted!
The reflect his new post, together with the fact that Rear Admiral is in fact an introductory rank for the Navy Fleet Commander, I am proud to announce that he has been promoted with effect of this memo, to Vice Admiral! My congratulations to him again. His hard work as NavyFC has meant that the fleet whilst small is in fact continuing to be well managed.

(3) Combat options increasing!
If you log onto your personal profile page on the domain, you will find that on the combat page your previous flight history (if you had one) has now been uploaded and also your Medal of Combat is now displayed in your ID line. This is just part of the recent combat updates taken place. I am happy to announce that the Flight Performance Report submitter is now fully active and released in the GE:ER Admin system. Please review the necessary procedures in the Officers Manual! As soon as more people submit simulations, this will be upgraded to a Combat Simulation Performance Report submitter. The review of the reports will be conducted by the Tactical Coordinator, but in the meantime as simulations only exist for the Navy, these will be handled by Vice Admiral Fel.
For those looking to battle real opponents, then I must remind you that the Combat ladders are fully functional and the current session runs until the end of the year! Get yourself medals for winning the ladders and be known as one of the greatest pilots or fighters in the club.

(4) Army Senior Drill Instructor Appointed!
Congratulations to Major Catman who has recently been appointed the Senior Drill Instructor for the Army. This means his duty now is to work with cadets to get them through the academy and onto our rosters. With our new academy graduation scheme, and his help, I look forward to getting more and more recruits into the army ranks.

(5) Civil Sector closed down
Due to a drop in interest, the Civil Sector division (supporting Star Wars Galaxies) has been temporarily been set as inactive. Suggestions for the Division if you have any should be sent in my direction.

(6) Other website updates
Various other website updates are being done as you read this email. Check the news page for details of this, and also the logon page inside the admin.

(7) Imperialsquadrons.net boards return!
I am happy to report that the ImperialSquadrons.net messageboards have returned to active use. Run by Imperial Officer Vortagh, several other messageboards are available for discussion on. Also, the site has many possibilities - these will be emerging soon. He asks for your input â€“ go there and give it. For the link, see the main sidebar on the GE homepage.

That is about all the news for this fleet memo, what is left is for me to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The year ahead looks very promising, but remember that the GE is what you make of itâ€¦ I hope we have a great year to follow the good times we have had in the past, and to follow the changes made this year.

Also, the authorization of the FPR is an excellent news for all of us. Thank you FA Polanski. Personally, I not had the opportunity, as leader of squadron, of using the FPR. This to be a new (and great) experience for my.
