I like it how it is, gives room for promotions without making them waiting for advancement. If Company COs would take advantage of that more often...

If we had more people it would be more useful to have more to the enlisted ranks. I don't see a reason why we can not necessarily plan on it possibly happening. Basically what we have is a mix of Marine Corps and Army/Air Force rank structure. To add more to it you can possibly insert the Marine Corps Sergeant First Class between Staff and Master. Or add to it Senior Master Sergeant and/or Chief Master Sergeant or the Marine Corps Sergeant Major. There is also the specialty ranks such as...well companys have to few people but each Brigade having a First Sergeant which would be a Master Sergeant rank or higher with a well in the military its a Diamond but for our case you can make one of the little squares a different number to designate the difference. And over at a Corps level the postions of Command Sergeant and Army level Chief Master Sergeant/Sergeant Major of the Army.

I got to goto ROTC now but Ill get back to the officer ranks laters.

Heh, all the changes in rank make me wonder.. :P

My Legion char retired as Sergeant Major, at the time highest rank any member of the Legion, save the Brigadier, could hold. In the hypothetical situation where he would come back to active duties with a similar duty, what would the rank be? :)

Purely hypothetic, I'm just curious - after all, we don't even have that job anymore

Your past position would give you a higher placement than most, but it all would depend what was open and where I wanted to put you.

The problem with the Legion ranking system (why Orzon changed it) was that it was not part of the overall GE ranking system. It was not equivalent to anything else but High Colonel and Brigadier.

However, it would prob get you Major or even Lt. Colonel in the Army.

I was High Colonel - or as Syrtaras always said "Hi, Colonel!" :P

Question before I vote: What ranks ARE supposed to be added?

Again? It was never changed before..

This is only a poll in response to many suggestions.

I never did like the name Junior Lieutenant that much and we have a Second Lieutenant but no First Lieutenant which is technically held by Army Lieutenant. It could possibly be bumped to Second, First, Army Lieutenant. Or Junior Lieutenant can just be done away with and XO starts off as Second and is promoted up to Army after awhile...and Army Lieutenant same as up to Army Captain. There is no reason why the CO and XO cannot have the same rank if teh XO has been in the spot alot longer especially. It happens in the real military all the time. It is quite common at times too.

-The army has squads led by a NCO which we do not use for lack of numbers.
-Then Platoons (2-4 squads) not used for same reason lead by 2nd lieutenants and one of those lieutenants would be senior and be the XO (1st Lieutenant) which we do use.
-Next we have Companies (3-5 platoons) which are led by 1st Lieutenants and then Captains.
-Next is a Battalion (4-6 Companies) led by Lieutenant Colonel with a Major/Captain as XO which is our Brigade XO slot.
-Then a Brigade (2-5 Battalions) which is led by a Colonel with a Lieutenant Colonel/Major as the XO.
-Division (3 Brigades) led by a Major General/Brigadier with a Colonel as XO Our Corps XO slot
-Corps (2-5 Divisions) led by a Lieutenant General/Major Gen
-A Army (2+ Corps) Led by a General/Lieutenant Gen with a General/Lieuteant gen/Major Gen as the XO slot.
Theoretically our Field Marshall slot can be similar to the 5-star rank.

Basically...I dont think we need Junior Lieutenant and bump up Second Lieutenant on the equivalance chart. And I always thought with more rank came more Rank cylinders...but in the Army at least the more Rank the less cylinders. Like in one of teh X-Wing books Isard demoted the guy who was essentially our Line Captain to Captain by taking away a rank cylinder. And rank cylinders are used to access things in the stories and all so with higher rank comes more cylinders I wouldve thought. Like the Lieutenants have one cylinder...Captain/Major/LC have two cylinders. Colonel to Lieutenant general has three cylinders and General up has 4 cylinders or something like that. I don't know it just intrigues me how whoever came up with the cylinder thing.
