Outer Sectors Chapter 21: Back Against the Wall

Lieutenant Commander MAR entered Admiral Fel's dark quarters and snapped at attention.

"Greetings High Admiral."

The Emperor's Reach saluted back.

"At ease , Commander.

I have receive informations that a Rebel Fleet is in the sector. Classified informations that , now , only me and you know..."

MAR didn't bother thinking about what had happened to the informant. But he was sure that Jagged had something to do about it...

"In this Fleet..." The High Admiral continued on. "There is a VSD that carries a very important individual. I need to know where this Ship will move next. From the data I have received , that Fleet will be strong and the Nemesis will have to retreat. That , will only make this mission more successful.

I want you to plant a Homing Beacon on that Ship , without anybody knowing about it. Be it Rebels or imperials.

The Beacon *must not* be detected. You will have to fight as you do usually and come close enough to the ship to do it manually. The velocity of your fighter will be enough for the magnetic lock to engage and stick to the ship's hull. The shields will not stop it.

Once your mission is completed. Fly away from the VSD and continu your fight with the remaining fighters.

Do you have any questions?"


The Commander already had his whole mission and plan figured out.

"No , High Admiral."

"Your services to the Empire are highly regarded upon. Do not fail me Commander..."

MAR saluted the Emperor's Reach.

"For the Emperor!" And turn back

"Ualtar! Break left!" Viktorov shouted in the comm.


A blazing ball of fire exploded and his viewport darkened to prevent him to be blinded by the blast.


"Thanks SL!" Ualtar answered

"Stick with me Ualtar , let's punch a whole in this fighter screen!" Hermann was bloodthirsty

"You're the man. Missile locked!" Ualtar shotted a torpedo that hitted an X-Wing and damaged his escort.

"Very good!" Hermann added while shooting his own torpedoes away


The combat zone was getting dense with fighters and more of them were coming.


"Flight 2 and 3 , Attack X-Wings! Cover the GUNs." MAR ordered

Viktorov and Tornado acknoledged in unison.

"Flight 1 with me! target A-Wings , we have to buy the Nemesis some time! Split and dogfight as close as you can from the Caps Ships!" MAR continued on

"Shouldn't we stay out of range LC?" The question came from Jamie

"You have your orders 1-2!" MAR responded

"Yes , sir!" Jamie was quick the confirmed that


Psi pilots had confidence in their Leader's ability to get them out of that mess. And they would follow him no matter the odds. Because Psi , exterminated the odds...


"Psi 1-1! Nemesis here. We are jumping in 20 seconds. Cover us and jump at your convenience."

"Acknoledge , Nemesis!" That was the time for MAR to achieve his secret mission.

He had only killed a pair of A-Wings since the fight started. And now , he was letting a third chasing him while he was finding the best way the get close enough to that VSD.

1,2 klicks away , evasive maneuvers , a left loop and a little spin brought him so close to the VSD's hull that MAR could see some paint chipped at some places. That's when he felt it was the time to "drop" the beacon. He directed his fighter's nose away from the ship and looked at his navcomp display. The beacon had locked magnetically to the Ship's hull and no one seemed to have noticed.

Maybe that A-Wing that was following him did. But if so , it sure didn't have the time to report it , since MAR shot a torpedo right in it's cockpit as soon as the VSD was on his six.

"Psi Squadron! Disengage and jump to rendez-vous point. Great job , pilots!"


A couple of seconds later. 11 Psi pilots jumped into hyperspace uninjured. They had only lost 1 fighter on the first wave.
