TO: All Naval Officers
SUBJECT: Fel's Fantastic Fleet Report: 3.3.07
==========
Introduction
==========
Well, it's been a little while, and Fel is starting to ask questions, so that means it's report time!
Not too much going on right now other than ORW, so this report's going to be a little light.
==========
News
==========
-As of this writing, ORW Fifth Engagement is underway in #outerrim. Imperials are in last place, and if the website was working right now, I'd be able to tell you about how many weeks we have left before returning to normal ICTE and individual glory. But, as of right now for this engagement, the Imps are winning. But it's still early, with many, many hours left to go.
==========
Actual News
==========
-Less than a month left on the current Ladders set!
-Not much noteworthy, other than everything that's spelled out below anyway. Lots of activity though, so I can't complain

Competitions

Ladders
Host: The GE
Status: Open!
-The ladders are an (almost) always ongoing way to be active in the Empire. Pilots and ground troops face off against one another, and everyone who wins and and everyone who plays gets points. The winner at the end, and perhaps some 2nd or 3rd place officers, if there is enough activity, earn medals! Full details at: http://empirereborn.net/ladders.php?page=root
ICTE
Host: #outerrim on Undernet
Status: On Hold
-Hosted by our allies, the ICTE, or Inter-Club Training Event, is a fun way to get together and play some multiplayer outside of the ladders. ICTEs take place every Saturday night, and your participation will earn you a pin for your Imperial Star, with placements in the top three earning the newly restored Imperial Combat Cross! Full details and rules at: http://icte.starwarsalliance.com/
ORW
Host; #outerrim on Undernet
Status: Ongoing
-Hosted by our allies (and some rebel scum), the Outer Rim Wars is a large scale three-way engagement between Imperial, Rebel and Sith factions. All the games from ITCE are available for play, and participation earns you pins for your Imperial Stars, with exceptional placements earning the ICC! Full details and rules at: http://www.orw3.net/
EaW Mission Contest
Host: Myself, Tactical Office
Status: Open!
-Following the release some months ago of the Empire at War Map Editor from Lucasarts/Petroglyph, it is now high time to announce a competition for the creation of a high quality mission...!
The rules of this challenge are simple: Be the first to turn in a high-quality Empire at War mission to VA Jagged Fel. If you do so, you will receive not only the Medal of Tactics afforded to all mission creators, but you will also be the first to create an Empire at War single-player scenario for the combat chamber. And, of course, you will be rewarded with a medal for your initiative... You will receive a Bronze Seal!

Ace of the Month
==========
Every report will feature one whose exploits are applaudable. The Ace is one who has shown dedication above and beyond, be it either in combat, overall activity, or even an epic quote on IRC. Enjoy the bragging rights for a while.
For the first Ace, I'm going to have to say Ensign Roche. For a new Officer to come in and start collecting Combat Certs and Exams at the rate he has is great. Keep up this sort of activity levels and you'll do well within the Empire.
==========
Ew*k of the Month
==========
Every report will will also feature one whose exploits are... less than ideal. The ew*k itself is an endangered species, thanks to the carelessness of the Rebel scum. Those that know me are aware of the cages I keep in the IDMR laboratories, the contents of which are used for testing or sometimes target practice. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the type of people that earn the Ew*k of the Month "award" are plentiful, so even if the little buggers no longer fill my cages, there will always been a bountiful supply of officers as substitutes.
And the "winners" are anyone who's playing for someone other than the GE in ORW. *Especially* if you're playing as Rebels. For shame....
==========
Personal Section
==========
Well, I think the ORW bot code is to a point where there aren't any features needed left to add. That means one less thing on my to-do list, and more time to work on YOGEME. Of course, for the weekends there's still actually playing in ORW, but I've slowed down quite a bit. Between the Rebs and Sith playing many, many EaW and BF2 matches, there really isn't much hope for the Imperials unless we all just don't leave our computers and stay in-game all weekend. Personally, I think that ORW could've taken a little bit more planning, and thought out a little better. I mean, who in their right mind would've thought that the EH would actually participate on any real useful level?
One of these days I have to start flying again. There's still a bunch of ERS I haven't completed, and I still want to do reviews and hints for every simulation. If I can beat the high score, that'll work too.

Standing Orders
==========
1. Be in contact
There are loads of ways to be in contact, and e-mail is just one of them. Many officers are available on AOL Instant Messenger, and some even on MSN Messenger, both of which are free downloads. Xfire is gaining popularity after being adopted by the Empire, so that is another official method of contact. If you do use Xfire, please post your screen name into the Xfire thread on the Message Boards so you can be invited to the GE's Xfire clan, or contact an existing member. Some people are also on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) all the time (myself included), so please do come by! #galactic_empire on the Undernet network. We're friendly (as long as you're well behaved) and would be very glad to have you join us.
2. Recruit
The Empire is always in need of new officers, so if you know somebody who'd like to join, or if you just want to go out on IRC, the MSN Gaming Zone, or even public servers and find people, that's very much encouraged. If you can find a way to lure someone in, do it! And if you can't find a way, there are chemicals that make coercion easier. There's potentially medals involved!
3. Fly
I'd really like to see lots of people flying, whether on the ladders, single player, ORW, anything. It doesn't have to take much time, it's a lot of fun, and can be very effective. There's quite a bit of activity on the EaW ladders, at not a whole lot coming from the XvT and XWA pilots recently. Get moving!
4. Have Fun!
That's the most important part of the whole thing. This is why we're here. The most fun can be found in point 3.
5. Fly some more
Seriously, fly a lot. It's fun, you get to blow stuff up. And it makes you look good
==========
Closing
==========
Well, if you like to play MP, participate in ORW. I'm writing it off as a lost cause. If you look at last week, we would've needed about 80-160 games to get within striking distance of 1st place. And since the rules were changed so there's no difference between 2nd or 3rd, if we can't keep up with BF2 and EaW scores, there's really nothing you can do. Frankly, they're doing me a favor, since I can spend more time working on YOGEME instead of hoping the carpal tunnel doesn't come back. But I'll still be there, doing mainly CTF, so you should too.
